award.

I scrolled through a lot of dresses from an awards show. I didn't actually watch it, nor do I watch the shows it was honoring. I'm always happy to look at fancy dresses, but then came my disappointment.

these are the only two dresses I even remotely liked...

Emily Deschanel in Max Azria Atelier

January Jones in Atelier Versace with Mui Mui shoes

Maybe this makes me seem like a fashion snob, but I have my reasoning. It's quite simple. The pretty dresses were poorly fit and the ugly dresses, well, they were just ugly.

Fit makes or breaks an outfit, no matter how skinny you are or what body type you have. Haven't you ever been shopping online and fallen completely in love with a dress/shirt/anything....you bee bop to the store to try it out and most likely buy and then...doom. You rip it off the shelf and briskly walk (run) to the fitting room. Do I even have to say what comes next? You hate it, you can't get it off fast enough. Then your heart sinks and you sulk out of the store.

Fit will ALWAYS kill an outfit no matter how Meep it is, and that includes a $100,000 designer gown. Hopefully the next pointless award show will give me more to work with.

Oh wow. I almost forgot the best one.
Betty White is Meep.

brilliant.

let me just say that John Galliano can do no wrong with color. he gets the hues and combinations just right....even if his models have saran wrap on their heads. I really love the pairing of colors fit for neon signs and silhouettes fit for a queen. just brilliant.

I'm sure a lot of people are saying... "really? that's meep? really?"
I realize that girl is wearing a birdcage but for some reason it seems more dainty and whimsical than halloween costume.

Went on a much needed vacation last week to the beach. It was everything a beach trip is supposed to be.....seafood, sunshine, shopping. I came back rejuvenated and relaxed. It really was exactly what I needed, no matter how cliche that sounds.

This was the view from our balcony.
lazy river = most brilliant invention ever.

We went out to a fancy dinner one night so I decided to clean myself up a bit.

Dress: Anthropologie (as seen here)
Shoes: Moda via Stein Mart
Scarf: Banana Republic Outlet
Earrings: gift via Etsy
Sunglasses: Chanel

I did work on my tan quite a bit, and by that I mean sit in a beach chair with my face buried in The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest, in a giant hat, and plenty of sunscreen. I walked along the beach too...picking up shells and squeamishly running from crabs and sting rays close to the shore. I'm not so good around ocean animals with claws and such who are easily agitated. You can call me a baby, I call it smart. I mean haven't you seen that commercial..."We know more about the moon than the ocean". Enough said.

Dress: Forever 21
Swimsuit: Sand N Sun via my aunt
Flip Flops: Target
Hat: Scala
Sunglasses: RayBan
Bag: I bought this from a street vendor in Venice.

I love this reusable shopping bag and it packs down to the size of a tiny ball. It was an impulse purchase but I've used it a ton. It was quite useful at the end of my 3 week trip to Europe when the wine bottles procured would just no longer fit into my giant overpacked bag. Since then I've used it as a purse, an over night bag, for the groceries...and now a beach bag.

I bet you were wondering what's in it.

Beach Towel
Water Bottle
Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm

Neutrogena Ultimate Sport Sunscreen SPF 70+
Amazon Kindle w/ case

Shortly after my beachbumness was captured for all of Meep to see...I was meet with this. I had just gotten settled in the sun when in rushed in and ruined it all. It was the last day and such a bummer.

I still had an awesome time. I'm pretty easy to please though. Any trip that takes me to a town with an outlet mall is okay by me. Here's a sneak peak of some of the finds I scored. Bargain shopping. What a rush.

(Calvin Klein panties are where it's at ladies. Get some.)

resort2011.

I went over to style.com to check out what's new on the runways. I never have a chance to sit down and look through them like I used to. I do become melancholy when thinking about the amount of free time I have to sit around and look at beautiful clothing....because it is close to zero. I also know myself when it comes to these things. If I click on one show, I can't hold back. No matter what is going on at that moment I must stop and go through as many as possible without blinking or moving. (mouth hanging open, face very close to screen) It's all or nothing baby.

Do you think there's a padded room for those afflicted with an addiction to fashion? Something to think about.

Anyways. I found a ton of dramatic, colorful, mouth-watering ensembles to share. I love that resort collections are always so versatile. From swimsuits to jackets to tanks to gowns...you can find everything.

I must say, though, looking through these collections has made me realize that my taste is growing. Don't get me wrong, I'm always going to enjoy the abstract. the eccentric. the bright. the obnoxious stuff but I do feel a certain sophistication taking hold. I can't articulate it yet, but my fashion brain certainly feels different.

Enough about me...feast your eyes of these beauties.

Chris Benz is really turning out some serious keepers. I'm currently obsessed with this designer and there will most likely be more posts to come on this one. The draping of his clothing is flawless; it hangs on the body perfectly. The color combinations scream Powder Puff Girls+Mary Tyler Moore. Hello?? Brilliant.
