let me just say that John Galliano can do no wrong with color. he gets the hues and combinations just right....even if his models have saran wrap on their heads. I really love the pairing of colors fit for neon signs and silhouettes fit for a queen. just brilliant.

I'm sure a lot of people are saying... "really? that's meep? really?"
I realize that girl is wearing a birdcage but for some reason it seems more dainty and whimsical than halloween costume.

Went on a much needed vacation last week to the beach. It was everything a beach trip is supposed to be.....seafood, sunshine, shopping. I came back rejuvenated and relaxed. It really was exactly what I needed, no matter how cliche that sounds.

This was the view from our balcony.
lazy river = most brilliant invention ever.

We went out to a fancy dinner one night so I decided to clean myself up a bit.

Dress: Anthropologie (as seen here)
Shoes: Moda via Stein Mart
Scarf: Banana Republic Outlet
Earrings: gift via Etsy
Sunglasses: Chanel

I did work on my tan quite a bit, and by that I mean sit in a beach chair with my face buried in The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest, in a giant hat, and plenty of sunscreen. I walked along the beach too...picking up shells and squeamishly running from crabs and sting rays close to the shore. I'm not so good around ocean animals with claws and such who are easily agitated. You can call me a baby, I call it smart. I mean haven't you seen that commercial..."We know more about the moon than the ocean". Enough said.

Dress: Forever 21
Swimsuit: Sand N Sun via my aunt
Flip Flops: Target
Hat: Scala
Sunglasses: RayBan
Bag: I bought this from a street vendor in Venice.

I love this reusable shopping bag and it packs down to the size of a tiny ball. It was an impulse purchase but I've used it a ton. It was quite useful at the end of my 3 week trip to Europe when the wine bottles procured would just no longer fit into my giant overpacked bag. Since then I've used it as a purse, an over night bag, for the groceries...and now a beach bag.

I bet you were wondering what's in it.

Beach Towel
Water Bottle
Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm
Apple
Neutrogena Ultimate Sport Sunscreen SPF 70+
Amazon Kindle w/ case
Shells

Shortly after my beachbumness was captured for all of Meep to see...I was meet with this. I had just gotten settled in the sun when in rushed in and ruined it all. It was the last day and such a bummer.

I still had an awesome time. I'm pretty easy to please though. Any trip that takes me to a town with an outlet mall is okay by me. Here's a sneak peak of some of the finds I scored. Bargain shopping. What a rush.

(Calvin Klein panties are where it's at ladies. Get some.)

resort2011.

I went over to style.com to check out what's new on the runways. I never have a chance to sit down and look through them like I used to. I do become melancholy when thinking about the amount of free time I have to sit around and look at beautiful clothing....because it is close to zero. I also know myself when it comes to these things. If I click on one show, I can't hold back. No matter what is going on at that moment I must stop and go through as many as possible without blinking or moving. (mouth hanging open, face very close to screen) It's all or nothing baby.

Do you think there's a padded room for those afflicted with an addiction to fashion? Something to think about.

Anyways. I found a ton of dramatic, colorful, mouth-watering ensembles to share. I love that resort collections are always so versatile. From swimsuits to jackets to tanks to gowns...you can find everything.

I must say, though, looking through these collections has made me realize that my taste is growing. Don't get me wrong, I'm always going to enjoy the abstract. the eccentric. the bright. the obnoxious stuff but I do feel a certain sophistication taking hold. I can't articulate it yet, but my fashion brain certainly feels different.

Enough about me...feast your eyes of these beauties.

Chris Benz is really turning out some serious keepers. I'm currently obsessed with this designer and there will most likely be more posts to come on this one. The draping of his clothing is flawless; it hangs on the body perfectly. The color combinations scream Powder Puff Girls+Mary Tyler Moore. Hello?? Brilliant.

anthro-apology.

The worst luck hit me the other day. I was shopping online, going back to get a few things I had bookmarked and just couldn't pass up. The first purchase was to be made from Anthropologie. I went to the site and placed the two items in my shopping cart. Both items were grossly on sale and I was a bit surprised to see my size remained in both items. Surprised but HELLA excited none the less. Both items were were discounted from $258 to $59.95.

Once I loaded them into my shopping cart I absentmindedly clicked over to another tab to do god knows what....quick e-mail check, short youtube video....i can't remember. Needless to say. I went back to my cart minutes later and clicked to finalize my order and give myself a pat on the back for being such a great bargain shopper....and then the tragedy.

In the minutes that I navigated away from my shopping, the swimsuit sold out in my size. I was so upset, because it's not like e-bay where you are battling for a bargain, sitting waiting to click bid. I had this product in my cart and my credit card out. This would be like checking out at the store and someone coming over and stealing it from the cashier as it's placed in your bag.

I really don't think this should be allowed. I guess I should be a little bit more urgent about my great finds. Trust me, this will never happen to me again. I wish I knew who bought it up...I think they owe me an apology.

glowing.

I rarely try new things when it comes to skincare. I have ultra sensitive skin and now know that if it doesn't work for my skin it never will. I have to be very careful with what I use because often times using an astringent product or getting a facial done at a salon can really mess things up.

I now use Aveda skin care and absolutely love it. I've used the lotion since high school and a few years ago I went for it and added the cleanser and toner to my routine. I swear that I now have an addiction. If I go for even a week without it my face begins to rebel and the effects are obvious. Aveda is expensive, I'll admit, but the results just can't be beat.

I'm sharing all this lovely personal information because I've come across a product that I can't wait to try. While reading WWD I came across a story about a "beauty drink" called Glowelle that was being produced by Nestle. At first glance I was skeptical. (I may have even scoffed.) I couldn't believe that there was a drink for brightening and protecting skin. I realized I was being ridiculous when I remembered that there are drinks out there for "slowing ya roll" and candies with carbonation and caffeine.

What intrigues me about Glowelle is that it claims to protect your skin while making it look better, which is what I'm concerned about. I'm going to the beach next week and I spend that time enjoying myself and relaxing, but in a very different way. A few years back I stopped sunbathing all together. I enjoy sitting on the beach with a book, but 75SPF and a large t-shirt comes along with me. I'd love to get this product in order to just have one more shield between me and the "free radicals".

I can say that I'm still not 100% convinced that this gives any kind of benefit but having natural ingredients and only 100 calories really makes me want to give it a try. Let me know what you think, if you've already tried it!! I'll revisit this topic with a critique after I've determined it's personal worth, but I want to hear from anyone who has already used it!
