let me just say that John Galliano can do no wrong with color. he gets the hues and combinations just right....even if his models have saran wrap on their heads. I really love the pairing of colors fit for neon signs and silhouettes fit for a queen. just brilliant.

I'm sure a lot of people are saying... "really? that's meep? really?"
I realize that girl is wearing a birdcage but for some reason it seems more dainty and whimsical than halloween costume.

mum.

tank top - from my mom
beaded bolero jacket - thrift
denim skirt - Old Navy
studded gladiators - J. Aldridge Sea of Shoes via Urban Outfitters
gold tassel necklace - E-bay
flower ring - birthday gift via Neiman Marcus

I have the most amazing mom on the face of the earth. She is my best friend and she always knows how to make me smile. She's beautiful and strong and hardworking. I work everyday of my life to become more like her; more patience, more selflessness. I get my creativity and my hips from her...two of my very favorite things.

My mother always let me be who I was no matter what. She let me dress myself before I knew my left from my right. She developed my personality and nurtured my talents. She is my Meep and always will be.

I wanted to share mine and my mom's outfit on this post, but unfortunately my camera went dead. I'll share mine with you today and revisit one of my mom's cute outfits later.

2010.

Happy New Year!!! I know that it's a little late, but I've been super busy. I hope you had a great new year and totally capitalized on the chance to dress up like you're going to the ball. I, however, didn't. I didn't make plans to do anything until about 9 o'clock, which didn't leave much time for getting ready...plus my room was a MESS which makes it even harder.

I pulled something simple together and put on a little extra eyeliner...then we were off. I rang in the New Year at a friend's party that was pretty low key, which was nice. I believe there to be no better way than to begin the year with an outfit update, so here it is...

black turtleneck- Mossimo
pink footless tights - HUE via TJMaxx
turquoise skirt - Dana Buchman via thrift store

(found this beauty on half off day with the Macy's tag still attached [i.e. never been worn]. original price $168.00 thrift store awesomeness $5.00)

black slouch boots - Payless
white mini purse - thrift store
white "wilma" necklace - thrift store

I'm starting the new year with a few resolutions and I'm really looking forward to getting things into gear this year. Of course I want to lose some weight and eat healthier (who doesn't), but I also want to start saving some money, create short and long term goals constantly, get out the Roach Motel that is my rented duplex, become a better sewer and many, many others.

Meep-wise I'd like to allot more time for posting and outfit creation...I'd like to do more dying and personalizing on my clothing...and maybe even work on starting my own little stylist/outfit organization/consulting type of side project.

I guess we'll see how it goes, and, as always, you're invited along for the ride. I promise it will be cute.

spotlight: collette dinnigan

so i know i said we were done with spring 2010 rtw updates but i came across a line i just had to share. Collette Dinnigan has had her own line since the early '90s, but i didn't know much about her....so i looked her up and man has this woman done a lot. she was born in New Zealand and began her career in Australia. it took little time for her to become an international success and she soon became the first Australian designer to have a full scale runway presentation during Paris fashion week. she has accepted countless notable fashion awards in Australia as well as internationally. even if you've never heard her name you'd most likely recognize some of her looks because she has dressed celebrities like Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie, and Naomi Watts.

i've always been impressed with her clothing and this season's runway was no different. I love that she is able to create the common looks that every woman loves (professional, flirty, glam, etc.) but with something different, or something extra. Her clothing is beautifully made and the attention to detail is obvious.

you're fashion lesson is over for the day, on to the pretty stuff. (but at least you can say you learned something, right?)

brilliant, right? you can thank me later.

spotlight: christian dior

My last spotlight for the spring 2010 rtw comes from the genius of john galliano. i usually like the clothing on the christian dior runways, but rarely do i LOVE it. this spring line is flawless in my opinion. you can always expect amazingly beautiful flowing dresses from this designer but i was really impressed with the jackets, skirts, and the accessories. i loved the mixture of soft colors with strong metallics...this show is future meets flapper. sexy but space-like. paranormal nancy drew. okay....maybe i'm taking it too far. if you like what you see you can check out the entire line here.

i love how light and comfortable everything looks. i love the cute sheer socks paired with super high heels. i love the colors. i love the belts. i love the necklines. i love it all. i'll take one of everything. thanks.

spring 2010 RTW pt.4

the final installment is here and it almost saddens me. i spent a lot of time looking through over 160 runway shows and i'm already looking forward to the next season's shows. i hope all of y'all out there have enjoyed this wrap up and have discovered a new favorite designer or an awesome pair of shoes that you just can't live without...because really, that's what fashion and this blog is all about, introducing you to new things you can't possibly comprehend not making your own. i truly love fashion for so many different reasons and i hope you've enjoyed looking at my interpretation of the many genius fashion designers out there. I've got one more spotlight coming but after that it is back to normal posting and trust me i've got a lot of stuff to catch you up on!
